The Bombing of al-Bara – PBS FRONTLINE

This documentary I will remember for a long time. The jounalists tells the story of two airplane bombing he witnessed while being around the sites. The pictures and impressions are unforgettable. A very realistic and shocking story of the suffering civilians are facing in today’s conflict in Syria. This documentary is one of the best there is on the human face of the Syrian conflict. Of course, it is another great documentary from the PBS award-winning series Frontline.

Syria: The Reckoning – Al Jazeera Part II

Posted by on Aug 19th, 2013 in Arab Society, History, in English, Politics, Released in 2013, Religion | 0 comments

Syria: The Reckoning – Al Jazeera Part II

A very well-made documentary of Al-Jazeera English which depicts the rise of the Ba’ath party in Syria and thus gives an excellent background on the current conflict in Syria. In the tradition of Al-Jazeera documentaries, they shed light on current conflicts like no other international channel while conveying a message in line with the overall channel’s standing in favor of revolutions and uprisings across the Arab World. Worth watching since it is overall balanced.

Posted by on Mar 15th, 2013 in Arab Society, Art and Artists, Culture and Travel, History, in English, Politics, Released in 2009 | 0 comments

Madventures – Yemen Episode Part III

There are no words for how hilarious and crazy this movie is – for all those who search for humor. Riku and Tunna from Finnland travel to Yemen and search for adventure in the most unusual places. Although eating lamb liver and shooting  mk47 might sound as everyday’s picknick to some Yemenis, watch these two guys doing this in some inaccessable places in the desert is very funny.
